TOLFA Segment 5 Question 3

God is claimed to be both omnipotent - all powerful -and omnibenevolent - all loving. Yet countless species of living things, which He presumably designed and created, can live only by killing and eating other species of living things, which He presumably designed and created. This is the problem of "Nature, red in tooth and claw."

How can a designer of carnivores be full of loving kindness?

We should not impose human standards of sensitivity on animals who may have no feelings
All designs involve compromises and tradeoffs, and in His wisdom, God decided to allow death and suffering so as also to make living things responsible for earning a living
Suffering throughout Creation is caused by the Fall of Man; the Bible says that since then "the whole creation groaneth and travailleth until now." Once Adam had rebelled, all other animals were infected.
